The Merrill Area United Way Board of Directors has announced the hiring of Deborah Moellendorf as the new Executive Director of this dynamic organization.
Moellendorf will start this part-time position with the Merrill Area United Way on March 18, 2025. Moellendorf is a familiar face in the Lincoln County area. She worked within the University of Wisconsin Extension system for 35 years, rising through the ranks as Instructor, Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, Professor and Professor Emeritus. Her educator positions dealt primarily with 4-H youth development programs. In July of 2010, her scope broadened to include several additional areas such as Health and Well-Being Educator and work on the MCH Title V Technical Assistance Grant Team. She has also been active working with the Lincoln County Health Plan. As the UWEX Department head, she worked with the Lincoln County Board for budget considerations.
Moellendorf received her Bachelor of Science, majoring in Sociology with a Concentration in Analysis and Research from the University of Wisconsin-Madison graduating with Distinction. She then received her Master of Science in Sociology, also from the University of Wisconsin, Madison.
The Merrill Area United Way is pleased to have this individual with a strong community-oriented background and commitment take the leadership role. Moellendorf has many connections in the community that will help to develop the organization. In fact, she says “I feel strongly about nurturing relationships with the communities and agencies I will serve.” Her proven skills as an experienced administrator, community coordinator, educator, presenter, researcher, and grant administrator make her a valuable choice for the Merrill Area United Way.
